just went out and looked under the hood... i dont see how there's enough room to put a toolbox down low, behind the bumper like that. if you wanna do something thats out of the way, how about something in the bed on the side, behind, infront, or on top of the wheel well?!? u can keep the 48" width and add a nice little storage space

I've taken a closer look behind the bumper, and it looks like I should be able to hang something from the 2ea bolts holding the bumper on and straddle the width of the frame.

I was originally looking at just running some 6" or 8" channel all the way across, but that's.... a bit more expensive... than I expected.

Still looking at possibilities.

I'm seeing something like easily about 5"x8"x the width of the frame that could be in there; hanging between/below the frame rails. That's without even entering the bumper area itself.

I have a topper, and it's going to be a lot easier to pop the hood and get something than crawl into the bed (the 2500 is either surprisingly tall, or I'm just getting old ).

It would also be an interesting experiment with sliders of some kind and have the "smile" on the bumper pull out to reveal the storage.

How about just bolting up a regular (SMALL) tool box to the bed on the side and locking it. Just make sure that it is a box with a good seal.

If you use your bed to slide things flat under, here's a toolbox suggestion for you.

That's how I have mine. I don't have full access to the bed, but I can slide things under which is what I really like. Plus it looks low-profile, so you can hardly tell that I have a toolbox.

There are a lot of cool tool box ideas out there.

This one gets used in emergency vehicles a lot.

This one I just found but it's a pretty cool idea.

Wow.. The first one really likes their price.
The second one is more reasonable.

I'm still tossing ideas around in my head.
