Can my 03 4.7 run 35's
I wanna buy 35's but the guy at the shop i went to said no way can my truck turn 35's. I only have the 4.7 with 3.55 gears but ive got friends running even bigger tires on stock trucks that are 20 years old and they do fine. And i know 35's are rough on ifs but im only 2wd so my ifs shouldnt have as much problems seeing as i dont have front axles to break. anyways and help would be appreciated.
It won't do it with 3.55s, at least not very well. If your rims have the proper backspacing, you can clear 35s with only a 2 inch leveling kit. The problem is your gears, the 3.55s will force your engine to work far too hard to turn the 35s, the 4.7L doesn't do well with 33s and 3.92 gears. You need to bump up to 4.56s if you want to run 35s without undue strain on your engine and drivetrain, otherwise you'll be fine.
Im running 37's with my 4.7L 4x4 and 3.55 gears at the moment and it's not to bad for power, i was suprised, I keep up pretty good with my friend and his stock 4.7L ram. Hwy driving though is rough if you live around alot of hills or tow alot. flat driving im running around 1500rpm, but when i get to the hills im at around 2500-3000 rpm. Im looking for some smaller tires as we speak so i can try and get some mpg back. If i was keeping these tires i'd definately buy some gears though. Hope this helps
