Default Brake Maintenance

I am rapidly approaching 50k miles in my truck and I was wondering when I needed to do a brake inspection or replacement. I am in a place that I can't check my manual.

Well just as a FYI, I just replaced my rotors and pads last weekend. I had 70k miles on my truck. And could have probably gotten another 5k. Are you looking for the book recomendations or recomendations in general?

Either or. I took off my winter shoes this evening in favor or the stock shoes which rock in mileage compared to my KM2's. While I had them off I did a once over on my brakes and while they are showing a little wear the rotors look great. I am guessing they might last another 20 - 30k miles.

Anyone else have anything?

Sean

if there is plenty of pad left, and the rotors still feel true when you apply the brakes, I would leave it be unless you feel like changing the brakes for the heck of it. just keep an eye on the amount of pad left and the amount of brake fluid showing in the reservoir and everything should be fine.

I just hit 40k and checked my pads when I had my tires rotated (I know I shoulda done it myself, but the damn hernia and 35s don't mix). And they said I had a good half of the pad left...

I just turned 50K and I needed to turn the front rotors and change the pads. The rear pads/rotors were fine.
