Unhappy Cam swap put on hold!

Even without the issues Diablo seems to be having, I'd still pretty much have to put this swap on hold.
Here is the problem.

My current Superchips 3815 does everything I want in a tuner. Good performance, over size tire re-calibration and most importantly to me, very firm and precise tranny shifts!

Going with a piggyback to adjust A/F trim is an option, but I'll get CELs for multiple misfires without a custom tune and a cam that aggressive. Don't want to deal with CELs, if I wanted CELs, I wouldn't have gone through so much trouble to retain my cats when the LT Headers went in.

SCT is not fully supporting the '04 at this time. No transmission tune, no tire recalibration. CELs would not be an issue, but I can't go back to a stock tranny settings, especially pulling near 350HP and 380TQ at the rear wheels.

Diablo looked to be a good solution, had the custom tunes, had the tire calibration. Again, no CELs, but Diablo does not support any transmission performance in the '04s at this time. So even without all the issues they are having, I am not willing to give up the transmission performance I have now.

I have NO reasonable solution for this without giving up features and performance in certain areas to gain the ones the cam will offer. So for now, it's on hold. I guess the cam will go on a shelf in the garage for now.

I'd like to go the SCT route and have been told they are currently working on the transmissions for the '04/'05s, so maybe I won't have to wait too long. Superchips is also supposed to get back into the race/off road market in addition to their existing CARB compliant tuners, so they may be a solution for me in the near future.

I guess I'll turn my attention on the 3" body lift addition and the 37" tires first, but damn, it would have been great to have about 380 ft/lbs torque at the rear wheels to turn them...

My heart just broke for you hammer... That was going to be a killer setup. BL and 37's will look sweet, but it would have been nice to be able to roast em across the intersection... and down the block.... and in the albertson's parking lot.... sorry my friend

It'll get done, but when there is a solution for me to not have to take a step back from what I have now with any feature.
I want the tire calibration and transmission firmness/shifts that I have now, and don't want to have to put up with annoying CELs to get it. It's my money, my truck, my performance. I want what I want and I'm willing to wait for it for a little while. I could also step down in cam to something that the Superchips will handle, but I want that GOBS of torque!
I've been told by two programmers for SCT that the tranny tunes and tire calibration is in the works and probably be released by mid summer.
So instead of this being an April thing, it may must have to become a July or August thing...

Sorry to hear it man. But the cam is still on order right? That way when you can get tuning you'll already have the cam. Body lift and 37's will look awesome though. Can't wait to see it.

yeah thats gonna be awesome man. Cant wait to see some pics. Seems like to many ppls plans are bein put on hold lately mine included, Damn economy. Even though thats not your issue. Im sure most ppl on here are excited to see what nearly 400 pounds of torque at the rear wheels can do to 37's lol.

Is there a performance shop near you with a good dyno tech? One of the shops around here will write custome tunes/progams based on dyno tests for you individual setup. I was looking into it back when I had money and was gungho on getting a procharger setup installed and tuned. I'd call around and see if anyone in your area can do it and I'll go and see if I can find the name of the shop that I was looking into so you could at least look and see if it would be a possibility.... That really sucks though I wanted to see those numbers you would have been putting down

Yeah, well maybe it's best, I'da been taking the money out of my retirement anyway since I'm not working at the moment.
But I'm only about 5 miles from KRC Performance, they are known as one of the best, I've also had Hemifever involved in this.
Problem is a custom tune really isn't. It's based off a canned tune and then they "tweak" certain areas to fit your mods, like A/F ratios and such. They can also play with the numbers, like expand the range of a field so CELs don't pop up.
Of my options to base a custom tune off of, the tuner companies just don't have the full support for the '04s yet. I could have a killer HP/Torque tune done with either the SCT or Diablo, but have to give up the really sweet transmission tune of the Superchips. Had I not had the SC for three years+ and gotten used to the tranny this way, I'd not miss it. But I know I will. Hell, SCT doesn't even offer speedo calibrations for large tires yet. So, I'll wait...

Is there no real shift kit (springs and such) for your tranny that will firm up the shifts the old fashion way so that you would not need to speed up the solenoids by the PCM?
Perhaps someone like Hughes transmissions? http://www.hughesperformance.com/index.php

I've never looked to see.

Sorry to hear that you are going to have to put it on hold. I was looking forward to hear the results after you got it installed. But I think that you are making the wise choice, there is no reason to give up features that you like just to get the cam in. SCT will get the tranny control done sooner or later and then you can get everything that you want out of your truck.
