Thanks for all of your input...I got the time, equipment, and the money. After building race cars, I'm up for the challenge of building a good 4wd truck. Looks like i'm going to be scouting the insurance auctions for a totaled out 4wd hemi QC...06+ I'll be keeping detailed pics and keep everyone updated on my progress...i'm not going to start till i'm done w/ my project drifter. i'm almost done w/ it. maybe mid summer. This is going to be a lot of fun for me.

If your looking for a wrecked 4x4, try and find a 2500 or a power wagon. They both had stouter drivetrains and suspensions and if your going through the trouble of turning a 2x4 into a 4x4, than swapping IFS for solid axles isn't a bad idea in my opinion.

The one in loganville is not an insurance auction and it's free. I already know about the Veristar Auctions. I used to go there and done a lot of salvage rebuilding for used car dealerships. I got access to a BlackJack 5 point drive on frame machine, paint boot, and everything else. I would love to use new parts, but it looks like the best way would be to go to the auctions. Thanks for trying to help. I got all my answers I needed and know what I'm gonna need to proceed.

Default 05 Dodge Ram ST traction

Hello all!! I just registered to be a part of this forum and ive been thumbing through it and love all the interesting chats. I have an 05 Dodge Ram St, RWD. I absolutely love my truck. Bought it brand new in 05 with 2 miles on it and i have 140,000 with no complaints. And I must say, I spent a little money in putting a new Pozzy rear end in it with The Goodyear wranglers that were already on there and lemme tell ya, theres no stoppin it!!! I will soon get some pics up, but the project itself wasnt to bad doing it alone in my uneven driveway with a couple jack stands on 3 inches of ice, lolol. I loved doing it. I throw my snowmobile in the bed and drive her on up to pittburg nd blast down some of the toughest roads and the truck tracks as if it were 4WD. I am very interested in swapping out my 3.7L with the 4.7L and maybe even 4WD someday if i can find a truck in the junkyard or something. Hopefully in reality the motor swap won't be so bad considering I dont want to get rid of my truck.

as for the 4x4 part, i think its pointess, and NO a 2wd cant go anywhere a 4x4 can on the streets, maybe down south or a flat state with no hills... sell it by a 4x4 the color u want and be done with it..... i have always bought a 4x4, and will always own one, no matter where u live u will need it eventually and wish u had it......i see no point in 2wd trucks, thats what cars are for...

Agreed!!! A thread from March of 09.

Hoss, buddy, I'm gonna have to disagree with you on the uselessness of a 2wd truck. I've taken my 2wd's lots of places off road. I'm not saying that I can go everywhere a 4by can but quite a bit of it is how you drive it and knowing a good line. I can tell you one of my good friends off roads every other weekend. He has a 4by and gets into some pretty nasty stuff. I can tell you 85% of the time he never has to put it in 4wd. It's all in what you know.
