just a programmer will be noticeable bc you will get so much better shift points. it will be more firm and smooth... if you dont plan on doing any really big mods the superchips will work great for you. i have one and love it

I like the idea of just doing a drop in (k&n) instead of the entire cai.
How about the drop in with a programmer...is it worth while? noticable?
Definitly worth it.

these would be the only mods I am considering. (drop in or cai, exhaust, programmer) I don't want it to be a drag truck, I am just looking for some more performance with some simple mods.
Maybe just a drop in with a programmer is what I am looking for.

you will def. get more power with the superchips. also you might want to look into the airaid mit tube. it removes the hemi hat but keeps the stock air box. i think that with a kn drop in would be great.

if you dont want any noise increase, thats going to be your best choice. all other CAI and exhausts will sound at least a little louder than stock

Now we are talking!! This could be perfect.
If I do the airaid mit with a kn drop in, put in a superchips programmer, can I still use my stock exhaust? If I keep the stock exhaust would it be like getting a brand new Benelli rifle and putting a cheap-o wal-mart scope on it? (bad analogy but you know what I mean) or would the stock exhaust be fine for what I am trying to do?

Superchips (I am leaning towards getting one of these vs the other brands).....I looked at their website and there are several different models, tunes, etc. Which model do I want?? I am probably thinking for a 89oct tune, unless I can do 87oct and still get good performance. But I don't want to get into the higher octanes.

As you can tell I am a total noobie, but I really appreciate all the info and feedback and you guys putting up with me.

i think they do make stock type exhausts that increase the air flow but keep the rumble to a mininum. not sure exactly where to get them but thats going to be your best bet on performance

Here are your choices if you want quiet.

A good friend of mine has seen these on several 500hp mustangs and says their great if you want quiet horsepower.

A 24" magnaflow muffler with your resonator/s left on will be very quiet and you'll have a good flowing exhaust.

Here's my MIT installed...I didn't notice much sound increase at all but got some good throttle response.

Trueflow also sells this but it's literally twice the price and has a foam filter.

Do you mean just the magnaflow muffler with my stock exhaust/resonators, or a complete magnaflow exhaust/muffler with my stock resonators left on?
