From all I have read and heard from people foam filters better with only a little less air flow vs. oiled cotton (k&n), so I would go with the true flow kit. I believe this one fits your truck http://www.amazon.com/True-Flow-3050.../dp/B0007W51QO It would be a good idea to replace the y pipe and the muffler with new magnaflow parts.

With a complete catback you'd have to remove the rear resonator which I wouldn't do. Just doing the muffler will be less than 1/4 the cost of a catback and you can keep the stock resonators.

The superchips that you would want is the flashpaq 3815. Its internet updateable so when then come out with new tunes you and download them on your tuner and then install the new updates on your truck. They are actually releasing a tune that will result in much firmer shifts for our trucks soon which is going to make a big improvement!

This thread has been perfect for me as well. I don't want mods so much (for performance), but I am looking for improved gas mpg (all highway driving). I have read that the Superchip will help (mpg), but will the Airraid MIT and muffler update help mpg too?

You can keep the stock exhaust pipes and just add a new muffler. That should do you just fine. I kept the stock pipe and just added a Thrush 2 chamber - it is a little loud at WOT, but at freeway speeds, I don't notice it much.

I am thinking the airaid with a kn drop in, muffler (not sure which), and the flashpaq 3815 superchips programmer. I think this will add enough performance.

depending on $$$, what if I install the airaid & kn first with the stock exhaust/muffler, then save some $$, then get the muffler & superchips. Will it be bad with just the airaid without a more free flowing exhaust?

It is the flashpaq 3815 programmer that I want, right???? (this is the good programmer to get?)......just checking.

Just about anything you can do to make the engine run more efficiently will help with your gas mileage. A lot of people dont see much mpg improvement because after they do the mods they get right foot happy like me. You like the extra power and want to go fast.

It doesn't matter what order you get them really, just as long as you get the combo eventually. I think the 3815 is what you need, it's what most people have on here.

Thank you all for your input, info, advice.
I am still not completely sure what I want to do...but this is what I am going to do for now, and if it turns out like s**t then so be it.
1) I ordered the Airaid MIT tube and decided to give the Amsoil ea drop in filter a try.
2) I talked to a local exhaust shop and he agreed just a muffler would be best, he said he uses Vortex and he can put one on that will be a little louder than stock but not terrible.
3) I am going to get a superchips flashpaq 3815 and see what tune works best for me.

Is Vortex a decent muffler? I am assuming he doesn't mean the cherry bomb because I read that is really loud, but he did mention it has glasspacks and it will flow better and the sound will be decent. I guess I am still hung up on the sound issue, but I have to do something and if it is too loud I will try something else.

I have everything ordered and when stuff gets here and I get things installed I will post results, good or bad!!

Thanks again.
