Anyone know how to get these inserts out of the grille for these trucks. I have one that really needs to be painted. but I cant seem to get these little plastic screw clips out.

 

they just pop off...well at least mine did. try some needle-nose pliers to push the end of the clips out...

 

Wait a minute, I thought I was being cool and pulling mine off and painting it silver. But I guess Im not the only one who thought of this huh? I was looking at it last night. They are rivots in mine it looks like. Drill em out, and retap em when your done.

 

Well, I am actually thinking of paint to match the color of my truck and the outside surround will be a hi-gloss black. but maybe chrome isn't a bad idea. gotta get em out before I really decide.

 

Mine have bolts in the back side of the grill with little braces that are metal on one side and rubber on the other. I took mine out and painted them also.

 

i took my grill out too and painted black........i had to pop those rivets out with a flat head and hammer then had to buy some new ones real easy to do.....when you paint your , put lots of clearcoat on lol because mine keeps chipping away and i need to get some clear coat on them!

 

Where did you buy the replacement rivets?

 

Bear, do you have a picture of the front of your truck so I can see how it looks. My truck is silver also, so it would give me a good idea of how it would look.

 

lol DONT GO TO AN AUTO STORE!!! i had to buy them from a dodge dealer.....they sell 18 in a package i think...ran like $15... i fricken went to checkers, auto zone , adavanced etc. and could not find the right size anywhere ,just to find these stupid little rivets!

 

What a pain in ****. Theres few rink a dink place here in bakersfield that carry things and such.

BTW, ramracing..... holy crap sweet truck. Does it run like you want it to?
