That pic is what the pitting/oxidation looks like on my rims as well. I was going to hit the local auto store to see if i can find a compound that is safe for plastic. The rims don't look bad, but up close u can see it and it bugs the hell out of me. Can u buy just the outside plastic for the rims??
let me know if u figure any fixes out for this problem , i will do the same!

1) I used Eagle One Never-Dull Wadding Polish on my '07 on all of the chrome pieces, including the rims, plastic chrome handle covers, etc. and never had any problems.
2) I had someone hit (& run) my truck in a parking lot and they scraped up the wheel. The shop just ordered a new cover for it and it was around $100? They didn't have to replace the whole wheel. So, I guess if you knew the right part # then you could order just new covers.

I personally think that simple green is the best all purpose cleaner out there. I always use it whenever something needs a good cleaning and it has never let me down.
