Thanks for the vote of confidence. I've actually expanded my search to within 200 miles of where I live and found 3 more similar Rams that have fewer miles. I'm just haggling with the dealerships now(I hate salesmen). I plan on buying whichever one gives the best deal on wednesday. I'll try to post some pics when I get one.

If you can get a better truck, a little longer ride is definitely worth it. I haven't bought a truck anywhere near my house in years. It is always worth it to me to take a ride for the better deal.

i agree with Teacher...go as low miles as possible, youll be happier in the long run. buying an 04 with that high of miles your bound to run into front end problems, not to mention tranny and rear diff problems. just keep an eye out for power steering leaks or grinding noises coming from the steering if its between 03-05.

Ok I will throw something else in the mix. If you don't need the truck right away I would wait. This kind of depends on where to live thou a little. Think about it, if you live in a place where there is snow people might be wanting to keep their trucks to get through the winter weather and then when spring comes get rid of it. Also the longer that you wait the better of deal you are more likely to come across. I believe that waiting is key when buying a vehicle, no matter how hard it might be to do.

of course, there is always going to be better deal out there no matter how long you wait. you just have to find something that sticks out on you.

So I haven't got anything yet. I decided to give it a little time and see what comes up. I've talked to a few dealerships and found some more Rams to look at, but the bad thing is that I can't wait too long because I just sold my car. Now we're down to 1 vehicle between the wife and I. The attached pictures are of what I'm looking at now. Its an 03 ST 2wd 5.7 V8 with 70,000 miles on it. Right now we're at $8000. I'm still trying to get them to come down a little more but I don't know if they're going to. What's keeping me from pulling the trigger is that its about a 4 hour drive away. Because of that I looked around a little more and found an 03 Quad Cab STL 4.7 V8 with 80,000 miles at the same price and only 45 minutes away.

i dont know about the price for that reg cab. again, it seems a little high for something that old. i say try to get it for maybe $7-7.5k. it all comes down to what you really want because if its something you like, the long drive wont be much of an issue in the long run. do you want a reg cab or quad cab, hemi or 4.7?

Seems like a good deal for that 03 w/ the hemi. the milage isnt too bad on it either, and if you dont mind a previously modded truck it might be a good find, just no 4x4!?

But if you go for it the definatly give the dealer some sob story about how far away your driving to get it, see if they take a few hundred off, maybe make em throw some stuff in. good luck.

Really doesn't matter to me. It's mostly getting the most for my $$$$. I'm kind of leaning towards the quad 4.7 V8. Its has 10k more miles on it but he also came down to 7700 and its an SLT.
