factory jack
It's a good reminder to many. While my factory jack worked fine the two or three times I used it, I could see that being a place where Dodge skimped on quality (basically took the cheapest bidder) and didn't focus much QA effort reviewing what was put in the trucks.
I have never used my jack and before I loaned it to my son, I checked it was OK.
He used it to jack up his Toyota MR2 as it was the only jack we had, which was low profile enough to slide under his car.
Anyhow, this car is nowhere near the weight of a Ram 1500, but the threads on the jack stripped.
I wouldn't use this jack for anything after that experience!
He's a qualified mechanic so he knows his stuff and didn't abuse the jack.
Just my 2c experience.

for those that need to use it for whatever reason, just check the pins, im holding a pin in my hand that should of been compressed and mushroomed. i litterally pulled it completly out with my fingers.
Never used the factory jack. I always put a bottle jack in my trucks the day I buy the truck. For as cheap as you can get a bottle jack I don't know why anyone would chance the stock jack. It looks flimsy and from the stories above it sounds like it is bad as it looks.
This may sound like a dumb question but are there specific points under your truck that you use your bottle jack that are more secure than others. I used one under my old Ford before and it wasn't very secure.
