Default Considering Purchasing

Hello All!

I am new to the forums, and although I am not an owner of a Dodge Ram Pickup I am thinking about purchasing one. Now with my previous vehicle if I would have known about the forums for that car I would have never purchased the vehicle. I have had many problems with it and they were all talked about on the forums. So what I was thinking is if I could get some input and advice on what to look for and things I should be aware of before purchasing one that would be great. Now some info on the vehicles I am looking at. It is a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT 5.7L Hemi with around 20k miles and there is also a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT 5.7L Hemi with 13k on it.

If any of you would like to share your wealth of knowledge and help me out that would be great.

Thanks and hope to hear from you all.

what was the old car you had?
there shouldnt be any problems if you are looking at that new of trucks but you might want to check all the usual areas and have a mechanic give the once over
i havent heard really though of any problems from 06+ rams

Welcome to DF either one would make a great truck and you have found one of the best places to get information, there are a lot of smart people on here that can help with any questions that you may come up with. The only thing I feel I should warn you about is that just about averyone falls victim to is the Modifing Monster, starts small with the air filter then moves it way thru the truck and more importantly thru your wallet...LOL

go with that 06, lower miles the better and with only 13k its practically brand new.

Here are the adds for the trucks

2007 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT

Let me know what you guys think.

On the 2007 they added chrome step-up rails

Also Raminator you said look at the usual areas. Now I have never owned a Pickup so other than interior, engine bay, exterior paint, tires and stuff like that what else would you suggest?

I am partial to the sport packages, but you cant go wrong with a hemi. Welcome to the forum and good luck on your next purchase.

get the 06, it has tow mirrors. Does that mean it has 3.92 gear ratio? I think the 06 is going to be the better deal. I would go with that one.
