Default Couple of issues with my 06!@#%

Hey guys. I am having a couple of issues with my wifes 06 Laramie Quad Cab 4x4 Hemi. Just turned over 40K so naturally the little crap starts popping up. Hoping you guys may have some advice. This truck has been babied and well maintained. It could damn near pass for new.

Here are my issues.

1- The red Airbag icon idiot light has come on in the instrument cluster. Stays on.

2- I am afraid I have had a duct for the HVAC come loose. It is a little louder at all speeds, but when on high you can feel the whole dash vibrating and of course there is very little air coming out. Especially at the windshield for the defroster. (guess I am going to have to pull the damn dash)

3- The dome lights are operating on their own freaking schedule. When you open the doors they come on. They stay on for about 15 seconds and then go off. If you close and re-open doors, it repeats.

Any tips on any of the above?

I really love the looks and power of my Ram, but little odds and ends like this bother me. It implies that their QC is not very detail oriented.

1) it will have to be scanned to figure out why it is on.

2) Sounds like the dreaded blend door issue. Dash removal to replace the part.

3) You may try unhooking the battery for about 1/2 hr to reset the computer. It may have a glitch in it.

Thanks LXman.

Any more info on the "blend door" issue? I hate to pull the dash but figured there would be no alternative. Any links to a step by step tutorial?

My dome lights have their own agenda as well. I have heard a lot of people have the issue. I think you can get it fixed at the dealer. It doesn't bother me that much so I haven't done anything about it.

1) I'd suspect the clockspring in the steering wheel for the airbag issue, but there's no definite way of telling just from here... Do you have any steering wheel mounted radio controls or cruise control? Are they not working correctly? Do you hear any crinkling or crunching sounds when you turn the wheel? (they would be coming from the steering wheel itself). If so, those would be further signs that the clockspring is the culprit.

2) Search for "Blend Door" in the 3rd generation section... You'll find tons of results.

For the blend door, it's really the recirculation door. Remove the blower motor with three screws above passenger footwell, reach up and remove broken door, enjoy good airflow with the only disadvantage being always having outside air (no recirc mode).

For the interior lights, disconnect negative battery post for a few minutes. After having the same problem, mine has been fine now for 2+ years.

Hey, before you get into the possibilities of it being a blend dooe issue, Do we have a cabin filter?
