Ive seen some HEMIs going for less than 1k on Craigslist around here. There was another guy out in LA who was selling his spare HEMI and trans out in LA for 1800 and Im pretty sure he had dropped his price some since.

I agree it does very much suck to loose a rod so early and for a dealer to come with such rediculous prices. But with an 03 and 90k, you are already out of warranty arent you? Where are you located?

Thanks for your help fellas!...looks like im gonna go the reman route, little over 3k for it, and about 1k in labor, from the quotes i have got...im good with that...i guess. I dont havet the time to mess it with. All my time and money goes to my 2000 wrangler with 35k original miles....lol

im sorry to hear about that...i have a 04 ram 1500 sport i wrecked and totalled but the drive train is still good..79000 miles on it. also other parts are good..$3000 for drive train if interested email me at guitarslap05@yahoo.com

I have never thrown a connecting rod with only a viberation. I would inspect the engine for what it would take to make repairs before buying another engine. But as they say it is your truck.

Default my blown hemi

i have my hemi 5.7l that oil preasure dropt and kept stalling. So i braught it to dodge and they did a carfax on it sayd that the head and head gasket was replace but supposibly the oil was not flushed out of the crankcase. So it spun a bearing and cracked my head motor done and only has 58000 miles !!!. Im pist they could of told me beafor i baught the dam truck. Luckaly the truck was under waranty it going to coast them more than what i boaut the truck (new engine etc.) a well cant wait to get it back lost it for a few weeks and they gave me a silverado as a loner

This is a bit of an aged thread but welcome to the board. Sorry to hear about the issues but glad you got it resolved. Anyone who buys a used vehicle now-a-days should have a carfax done on it.

At least you are getting a new(er) engine out of it.
