Default 2002 ram with DRL

Does anyone know if you can disable to the DRL on a 3rd gen? I have hid's but i dont want to put them in because it says DRL's can cause the hid bulbs to fail.

There must be a way to disable the daytime running lights, because the US models are not equipped that way.

I'm interested in this to. I already burnt out 1 hid bulb and they said it was from the daytime running lights, they replaced my whole HID kit but told me to wait to install until I figure this out. I looked for a relay or fuse but couldn't find anything. Anyone have any ideas or know where the fuse/relay/module is located? Thanks

There are 4 ways to do it that I know of.

Dealership can do it with there starscan system.

Install a flipswitch on the ground going from the lights.

or the third is that when the E-brake is engaged the DRL are disabled, I used to keep my van's e-brake 2 clicks in and that disabled them, But be careful with this one, You need to adjust your back brakes out just a hair so you don't actually touch the rotor.

And the 4th way is, pull the e-brake sensor and tie the wires together so that the ecu thinks the E-brake is constantly engaged, and it keeps the light off.

Personally, I would do #1 first.

A possible 5th way, But I don't know if it can be done on these trucks or not, A Lumina I used to have actually had 2 fuses for the lights, One was for the DRL and the other was for normal operation. I just pulled the DRL fuse and that disabled the DRL w/o effecting anything else.

**EDIT**

Two other idea's I had, If really desperate get a ECU from a US based truck, they normally don't have DRL, or If you have a tuner, Id bet that Diablo, SC, etc... can easily do it, Although, I don't know if they will.

I went to see my buddy who works at a Dodge dealer and he hooked up their big computer to my truck and he said he can't disable mine. When i left i was thinking what if he swtiched the country code to U.S model? does anyone know if that would work at all or what does that actually change? I'm going to talk to him next week thought i'd ask around here again.

Switching county mode may solve that problem, but may bring up another? i'm not sure what all the differences are???

You don't need to engage the e-brake. All you need to do is find the pedal sensor and tie those wires together. Ofcourse, then you'll have a flashing brake light all the time!
