C clip removal
So I'll have to take the axle shaft out to get to the E-brake. Any tips on how to get the c clip off? just wedge a screwdriver in there? Anything I should look out for?
they make a tool any auto shop has them like 5 bucks called a c-clip tool its a good tool to have because allot of things use c-clips i carry one in my tool bag for work . get one and enjoy....or you could use 2 screw drivers but could damage the clip
Wrong type of c-clip. To get the c-lips off the axles in your truck you:
Remove diff cover and drain fluid
remove bolt securing cross pin to differential
remove cross pin
push axle in to diff from the wheel end(it will only move an inch or so)
take a magnet and pull clip off axle if it didn't fall off by itself when you pushed the axle in
now you can slide the axle completely out of the tube
Remove diff cover and drain fluid
remove bolt securing cross pin to differential
remove cross pin
push axle in to diff from the wheel end(it will only move an inch or so)
take a magnet and pull clip off axle if it didn't fall off by itself when you pushed the axle in
now you can slide the axle completely out of the tube
