unplug the relay and take some spare wire and connect 86 to pos and touch 85 to ground. You should gear the relay make a clicking sound when you touch the neg. If not you have a bad relay...

Behind the knee bolster is a normally not-used harness. Four wires, if I remember correctly. One of those is a switched-hot (violet/black, I think, but confirm with a meter). Take that switched hot to your rocker switch. Continue from the rocker switch to one leg of the low-current side of the relay. Put a 3A fuse in there somewhere (probably before the switch). Then ground the other leg of the low-current side. Take a HEAVY lead from the battery positive through an appropriately-sized fuse to a leg of the high-current side of the relay. The last connection is from the other high-current leg of the relay to the lights. The only other connection is to ground for the lights.

You can use the hot side of the high beams to trigger the low-current side of the relay. You can use the rocker switch to interrupt that, if you want. Yes, you DEFINITELY need the relay. Make sure you fuse it all, so you don't let the smoke out.

Well they look good on your truck, sorry that they don't work yet. Are you sure that your relay isn't bad?
