Yes I just joined because I am experiencing the exact same symptoms with my 02 5.9L. When floored it runs perfect tell about redline and it sounds like its just bouncing off the limiter then I have to left off and slowly give it gas again.

If it's hitting redline and sounds like it's bouncing off the limiter, more than likely it is.

You're describing something totally different than the OP.

Yeah but it doesnt shift out of 1st when floored from a stop. I have to let off and gently give it gas tell it shifts then I can floor it.

1) Turn the key to run (don't start the engine)

2) Wait about 5 seconds for the dash lights to got out. Slowly press the gas pedal to the floor and slowly let it back up. You should hear a confirmation "ding" sound when the pedal comes all the way back up.

3) Turn the key off...

even though mine is a dakota, sound's "normal" to me, limiter wise. my 3.9 does same.

as to shifting, my typical suspect would be the pesky TV cable.

well it's not a certain fix by any means, but you start with the cheapest, easiest on the list of possible culprits to a problem, and this should be your starting point. I mean it could be that your injectors are not getting the proper fuel into the chambers at WOT, it could be any one of a dozen things, but this should be the starting point.
And it does often fix the issue...
