Default Is this too Expensive for Exhaust??

In looking to upgrade my exhaust I called my local muffler shop and asked the price for the new exhaust. They quoted me $469 for a Magnaflow Stainless muffler/tips and aluminum pipes installed with duals. Is this too expensive?? Also, they quoted me $669 for all stainless.

just have the shop cut the old exhaust off, fab a custom y pipe and put a muffler on and dump it. it would save you a bit of money since they wouldnt have to run the pipe from the muffler back.

Wouldn't the y pipe effect the sound than the split coming from the muffler, I'm trying to get a nice deep sound from it and improve performance too?

unless you want to have a offroad x/h pipe and have to put 2 mufflers on a y pipe is the way to go. thats what im doing at least.

custom y pipe paired to a aeroturbine muffler and no resonator

This is strickly my opinion, but I just don't understand what is so cool about dumping the exhaust. This seems to be the "in" thing with the Dodge crowd.

It makes the truck sound like a junker rattle can. And it doesn't even look right...IMHO.

Why don't folks just save their money until they can afford a nice full cat-back?

For my area, that is ridiculously expensive, but your area may have a higher prices on exhaust.

My friend got 5" stainless duals from the turbo back with 6" stainless tips on his Duramax for $600. Another, with a VW, got a turbo back 3" aluminumized for $250.

For all stainless it's not that bad. Most complete kits that are all stainless are $500-$800 I honestly don't even know why people put exhaust on their trucks that's not stainless. I'm going to be putting on the magnaflow exhaust system that dumps out the side.

just looks better to me. the muffler im getting is si/si and i would rather not have it look stock. i might have it come out with a tip on the passenger side or something.

I got all stainless flowmaster 40 series SI / DO and Stainless Tips all for $400 which included parts and install...

Don't limit your self to the big name shops or franchised operations. Car X wanted $725 , Midas wanted $350 and I provided kit. I started calling around and came across GT Mufflers here in Parkville and Presto they beat everyone almost by half! Amazing work and I was in and out in like an hr and half! Beat that!!! Certainly earned my future Business too
