My Exhaust Plans...
So I'm going back to work this summer and I will no longer be a poor and unemployed college student. If I have enough money left before school starts back I want to get an exhaust installed and possibly get an intake. My plans for the exhaust job are as follows...
Cut out the stock exhaust behind the cats right before the Y goes into a single pipe and run a true dual setup from there. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna go with two Magnaflow mufflers with turndowns. I want a X or an H pipe installed also.
Any comments or suggestions about this setup would be appreciated. Nothing is set in stone, this is just what I have in my head.

Personally, I like the H-pipe. I like the Magnaflow Idea, but I would look into tailpipes. The resonance inside the truck with turndowns will get annoying after awhile to you and your neighbors. Especially at night.
But honestly, you end up with an unbalanced system, because the left side is going to be longer than the right side because of having to run both pipes down the passenger side. Not a big deal, but that's why I prefer a good cat-back system on a truck. Better torque and good sound.
Unfortunately, they do not have the proper kit for our 08 yet. I called them again today to try to get a time frame on the kit and they say it is still in development. The 06/07 kit does not fit due to Dodge using a different cat converter supplier thus the y-pipe is different. I told them I have been waiting about a year and to get this done!!!!
Maybe by then, the kit will be available. It will be cheaper (and all stainless steel) and give about the same gain in power. If you open the system too much, you will lose some torque which is what moves these big ole trucks.
I would go with the Airaid Jr CAI. It removes the Hemi Hat and reuses the stock airbox with a high flow filter. Just as good, if not better than the much more expensive open filter designs.

I'm talking about a true dual setup with two mufflers. I heard that just running strait pipes alone can do damage to the engine. Something about burning up valves or rings I'm not sure. I don't know very much about motors.

Can't go wrong with a cutout, it is nice being able to control the tone of your exhaust with a flip of a switch.
