Default Speedo not working

Hi, My 2004, 1500 Ram, is coming up with the fault code P0501 Generic VEH Speed Sensor A
Range/Performance
As I live in Scotland UK, It is not easy to get somebody to work on them, has anybody had the same problem and how did they fix it?
Regards

I think it's probably the rear ABS sensor which is mounted on the rear differential. First and cheapest (free) fix is to make sure the connections are tight. There will be a wire coming from the differential, just follow it and make sure it it's not broken or have loose connections. Second, I'd try replacing the sensor itself. It's a relatively inexpensive part. On my old Dakota it was roughly $35 US, and an easy DIY fix.

The problem is probably a bad VSS on the rear differential. That's the sensor that the ABS reads, and where your speedometer signal comes from.

A dealer only part, but like SOS says it's cheap, retail for a Ram is $39.95 and probably all of a 10 minute swap...
