stump pullin, part 2.... gone horribly wrong.
ohh damm!!
that sucks, at least you can still get the sled back there lol
yep , next time redirect the line away from your trucks, and notch the tree first, to bring it down, then pull the stump
live and learn,
this is why we get wiser as we get older
and when you get old enough you can laugh at the young ones , when stuff happens to them
not that im saying im that old yet

mxzrev... well put. At least I can still put a sled back there!
I may have misinterpreted the situation with the pictures. The one picture im showing with the rope, was when I was cutting down the second brach of the tree. That went fine. I used the winch to influence, like hammer said, the fall of the tree.
We left the stump so high to give a little leverage. we just wanted to move it around a little so we could get to all the main roots.
I already got the rear window fixed, as of yesterday, $215 dollars later. But I did get the encapsulated window, versus a regular piece of glass. And I did a little shopping for tailgates. I was going to go the route that silver has posted above, (by the way, thank you sir), however i can get a brand new gate here for $120. I just have to transfer the guts over and have it painted. I think I will take that opportunity to get all my handles painted while im at it. And yes, the top of the cab was dented in, but I might just deal with it. I really dont want bondo on my truck.
Live and learn. As far as my buddies duramax goes. We had the new tie rods replaced in and hour and a half, so it wasnt too bad. plus it gave him a chance to upgrade them to the heavy duty set.
all is well now... i guess... lol

Sucks dude, but that's what chain saws are for. Hell, the tree looks small enough I could have hand sawed it in about 3 minutes. You always box the front in the direction it needs to fall and then cut from the back side while keeping slight tension on the rope with your hands...not a vehicle. You only need to influence and control the fall not yank the tree down like you tried. Then while slight tension is on, you cut the back side.
That's it. It will fall. The problem you are having is that you are trying to rip out super fresh tree roots. Not gonna happen. You never try and pull a whole tree, especially with the line up that high. Your lucky nobody was standing near it. Also, you were yanking right towards that other car in the road????
Your better off cutting it down to the ground and using a pick-ax to grind up the stump part ot go and rent a stump grinder for $100

wow that really sucks but now is the time to hook up and try again...i mean you got nothing else to loose. Hammer has a good idea tho i mean we did exactly what he said to a huge oak tree not too long ago and it worked great. trying to pull the whole tree, stump and all is not going to work very well i wouldnt imagine.

But glad no one was hurt
