Default stump pullin, part 2.... gone horribly wrong.

Alright. Ive already vented to Silverbullet through PM's. so here it is...

Pulling out a tree to poor concrete on the side of driveway. Soaked for a few days, and dug out around it. Was able to cut out some roots, but not many. So we decide, yea, here we go, were going to put a strap on this 5 foot tall stump, and rock it a little and tray to break up the ground a little more. I had a duramax on it, a chipped up cummins, and my truck on it. Nothing. I decided im going to give it a few more tugs before going to the hockey game.

I hooked up throw the blanket on the line, ad give it a few tugs. Well, the last tug, I tugged pretty hard. Before I could react, the line pulled tight, and the blanket was nowhere to be found, it dropped. The root we were fighting, broke part loose, stump leaned forward, sling slipped, and shackle came right for me.

Heres the aftermath. my poor baby.

here what i had going earlier that day.

to top it off, my buddy with a chipped up Duramax, came today to pull the rest. Like an idiot, he decides to **** and get right off the bat. truck squatted, lifted the front end, and snapped both tie rods. this tree has been hell.

But all in all, at this point with the damage you guys have done........cut it down, burn it out or leave it alone. It kicked your azz so far.......

That does suck though and sorry to hear about the trucks.

Sorry to here that!!!! Just cut the tree down, and go rent you a stump grinder, and take care of the stump. I rented one last year for about $40 a day.

in the future, place the rope around the tree like you did, but only apply enough pressure on the rope to influence the direction the tree will fall and cut it with a chain saw. Make sure the rope is longer than the tree or use a ****** block to redirect the tree to fall away from the truck.
Go back and cut the stump as close as possible to the ground, you can usually cut it to about an inch. Apply a product such as roundup to prevent growth of "sprouts" and let nature rot what's left away. You can also put a commercial product on it to accelerate the rotting...
