Ok, got it now. guess I should have been able to figure that out.

I do alot of driving on real dusty dirt roads. How bad are these open filters for the engine in those situations?

I recently purchased an 07 ram and if it proves to be reliable I'm planning on doing a few mods.

Well you can get the spectre from airram.com, autoanything.com, and other sites for about $160. There are even cheaper knockoffs of the AEM/mopar/spectre under names like velocity, bombz, and kool vue for as little as $70. I think autopartswarehouse has the velocity. The one's w/ the mount on the side tend to break off, spectre revised their intake so the mount is on the bottom to fix this. All of the performance gains are really close unless the intake uses a true ram air setup w/ ducting or a ram air hood.

As for filtration and driving in dusty conditions you can get filter wraps that are foam or other materials to help with that. I went with a true flow foam filter for my intake b/c they are pretty much the same as uni filters which dirt bikes and atvs use in very dusty conditions.

Most aftermarket intakes aren't in boxes to maximize air flow. They will still filter out any debris just like a stock filter. If you're not looking into a full out performance intake, but still want the added benefits of after market, I'd suggest a K&N. They are probably the worlds most reputable intake manufacture and have many hours of research into each design.

Average price is about $300, which is little bit in the upper range of intakes, but it's definitely worth it.

Here's one for $293 and free shipping

K and N says around 10-12HP gains around 5300rpm, but when are you going to be running in those rpms unless you drive like an *******. but you can definatly feel the power boost even around 3000rpm. love my 57 series.

Just get the Airaid Jr. kit. MIT tube and high flow stock filter replacement.
Same gain as the $300 kit for about 1/2 price.
