problem with hella
Well,
I highjacked Rubber Frogs Pic of the relay and added more to it, but I can't figure out how to upload it to the reply. Oh Well
Anyway, when I installed a set of Hella's on my 93 Dak, Susquehana motor sports suggested that I get my power to fire the relay from the parking lamp circuit, this way, when You shut your regular lights off, you have no fear of killing the battery from leaving the driving lights on during the day.
I also pulled the ground all the way back to the battery for mine. didn't want to trust the body connections over time and in my case--road salt.

Im not trying to act like I know whats going on when it comes to electricity. Im just speaking off of what I have learned, and from what ive seen other people learn.
Would a properly sized in line fuse keep these switches from melting or failing causing fires? Or maybe incorrectly gauged wiring could have been used? When the rocker melted from the train horns, what size wiring was used to switch; was there an in line fuse? I just think maybe we should throw some solutions out there, instead calling people stupid.

Apologize if I came across the wrong way. No troubles killer.
well didn't think this thread would go this way. But I would say defiantly don't hard wire. I have seen many trucks get messed up that way even total loss, big mess up for some KC's. And it was the regulator got a new one and the lights work fine.
i agree with using a relay. wont melt a switch. i just got another set of 100w KCs and they dont come with a relay. just a fuse. the three sets of KCs i have now are wired through relays but why would the manufacturer not offer a relay if one is really needed?
I didnt mean step on your toes froggy. I just thought there might be a better way of stating what you were trying to say, and not to be so condescending. So instead of saying, wiring your lights this way is stupid, maybe a little explanation. Thats all we were looking for.
