Default Throttle Body for 5.9, Looking for Opinions

Hello everyone,
I have a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 QC with the 5.9 V8. I have already put a Magnaflow dual outlet and I have ordered the Flashpaq and a Volant CAI. I am wondering if adding a 50mm or 52mm TB is going to be beneficial or if I will even fell a difference? I have looked at the ones that fastman Dan sells on his website and may go that direction. I am just wondering if I will even feel a difference or will it be a waste of money? Anyone out there running a TB and did you notice a difference? Any opinions are appreciated.

I ran one on my old 2nd gen ram and I could 100% feel the difference when I installed the modified throttle body I got from Dan. It was one of the best mods I ever got for the magnum engine.

Thanks for the input. I am waiting for Fastman Dan to e-mail me back on which unit I should get. I am also considering changing my Plenum gasket, plugs, wires, cap, rotor and thermostat when I change the TB. I figure there is no need to take everything apart twice. I am looking at using Hughes engines to get all of those other parts, have you ever heard if them?

The Hughes plate kit is a good one, that is the one I used on my old Ram. If you are doing the plate (which was a good idea on the older magnum engines, don't know if it applies to the newer one), I would 100% do the cap and rotor too. Those two are a pain to get to so if you are going to take the plenum off, that is the perfect time to do cap and rotor.

I wasn't sure whether it would make a difference, so I bought a used TB and modified it. It definitely made a difference and was planning to buy a Fastman TB but then traded my 2nd gen for my '05. I think he recomends the 52mm for the 5.9L if you don't tow much and the 50mm if you do some towing.

Good idea to do the cap, rotor and wires while your at it. Much, much easier access. Here's the DIY write up for replacing your plenum from the 2nd gen section. It used to have photos but I don't see them now.

You should also replace the short little bypass hose that goes from the intake manifold to the water pump while you were at it.

Thanks for the input Ramdamit98, I will look to get that hose, do you happen to know what size hose it is? I would like to try to get it prior to taking everything apart.

as far as performance, i would recommend the harland sharp 1.7 roller rockers non adjustable before the fastman tb. i have both. though i do like the throttle body.

Thanks Talon6,
I looked at those links you sent. Looks easy enough however, I just ordered my Plenum gaskett kit with a 180 therm and new 02 sensor from Hughes. I also ordered MSD wires and Champion truck plugs from Summit. I am going to pick up the cap and roter from Napa tomorrow. Basically what I am saying is I might wait a little while for the TB now. I already have dumped a lot of money into my truck this weekend and need a little time for me and my bank account to breathe. Thanks again for the advice on the Rockers, that definetley sounds like a good mod.
