I purchased a 2004 Ram 2500 last month from a small dealer just to pull my 5th wheel. He did not have the remote door fobs. They were lost somehow no big deal I can use the key to unlock the doors. When I was installing my trailer brake unit today I saw a Mopar remote start unit underneath. Now I want to get the fobs knowing the truck can be started by remote. My question is were would I purchase the fobs and do I need to have a dealer program them? Any help you can give me would be great.

Dealer needs to reprogram, but you need to know specifically which key fob to get. They have different serial numbers on the back of them but the dealer should be able to provide you with the information granted you buy the $80 fob from them. If you knew which serial number you needed then you could pick one up off of ebay for like $15, but you would still need the dealer to reprogram the Remote Start with the new fobs. I'm most positive.
