they can prob just weld some old tube to make up the difference right?

If you are taking it to a shop they will have everything that you need to fill up the gap, either a new longer pipe after the y-pipe or some form of an extension.

Yeah, the shop can add a piece of pipe to make up the difference. You can use a center in, offset out. They will can make it work.
