Default electric cooling fans

Anyone out there removed there stock fans and installed electric cooling fans? A few of my friends with Cummins power have done so and they tell me that it was worth the effort. I have an '09 Hemi and Im wondering will this work on my gasser? Removing that fan has to reduce the stress on the engine thereby improving performance and milage. I found this site: www.flex-a-lite.com....Comments?

I replaced the stock fan with an electric fan out of a 3.8 Taurus. The fan itself is very inexpensive and the install is straight forward. It made a nice improvement in my mpg's while also adding a little extra power by freeing up a few hp. There is a write up in the DIY section on how to install it.

I should add that the flex-a-lite is a good fan too but just costs way more than the Taurus fan and the Taurus fan pulls more than enough air for our trucks.

Do a search in this section for "e-fan". The subject comes up a couple of times a week at least. I have one and am a big fan, but EVERY diesel guy I know who has gone to one, has ended up taking it out due to cooling problems. Great mod for a gasser, but I'm not so sure about the diesel guys, at least those who use their trucks as designed...

Could you link the DIY write-up? Been searching around and I can only find how to change your own oil lol.

Have done a search for e-fan and nothing useful in the first 20 posts... don't need to know the benefits, etc, just how to do it!

Thanks!
