I changed the plugs, oil, and cleaned the air filter. Im feeling a little hesistation if i accelerate slowly at highway speeds. it shakes a little but Also it shakes when im coming to a stop. I dont know im feeling a lack of performance? So what needs to be done at this mileage to restore performance? According to my stopwatch it goes 0-60 in 11.34 seconds. is this avg? Also im getting Avg eco of 11.9mpg. But so far i really like this truck! i love the interior its the laramie pkg. really happy to be a dodge owner! Thanks and really appreciate any input!
Congrats on the purchase man. I don't have a 4.7 so I don't know from first hand knowledge but from what I have read and heard, you should be running to 60 a lot faster than that. It sounds like it is time for a full tune up and some performance mods.

What gear's do you have in your truck? My 4.7L QCSB is much quicker to 60, but I have 3.92 rear gears, if you're running 3.55 or 3.21s that might account for it.

It can't hurt to check your air filter, clean the throttle body, check for engine sludge (the 4.7s are prone to it) and just do a good thorough check of the engine. I've got 112k on my 4.7 and it's still running strong.

Good morning all. Well yesterday i removed and cleaned my throttle body it wasnt that dirty from the back probably because i previously sprayed and wiped it from the front. Anyways the truck has the 3.92 gears. but i think it is sludge build up that is hurting my performance because i baught this truck feburary 2009 and i gave it an oil change the oil was really black. and when i removed the oil filter it had someones name on it with a date of feb 2008! in black marker. meaning this oil was one year old! the oil filler neck and cap had ALOT of yellow build up on it. Is there a safe oil additive that removes engine gunk? I think i remember the dealer mentioned the owners had the truck parked for a while. lol. Also whats involved in a full tune up? Thanks everyone for the help!

A few guys here have used Seafoam with really good results. If you go that route, plan on doing a LOT of oil changes at very close intervals, or risk getting your oil intake screen clogged with the crap that gets dislodged by the Seafoam.

well i seafoamed it, I put half in the oil and then i slowly powered the other half in the brake booster line went driving around untill smoke stopped. Changed my oil. The truck runs smoother. But the acceleration is still at 11 seconds to 60. Some times it chirps the tires on take off sometimes it doesnt. Maybe i will add seafoam to the gas tank. Do u have to change the oil if its added to the gas tank? Thanks
