Default Cant get power steering pully off pump.

I have a 05 ram 1500, 4.7. The power steering pump went bad in it, so i bought a replacement...its off and sitting on my kitchen floor. I have everything figured out except how to get the pully off the pump. It almost looks like its just pressed on but its just a smooth shaft and doesnt makes sense.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

it's pressed on. You'll need a puller. Places like Autozone or Advance Auto rent the tools for free or you could just buy a pulley puller for like $20 and have it in your garage.

haha well you couldnt be more right.....advanced auto parts had the puller i needed and also offered to pull it off for me at no charge (BIGGEST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE) the apparently proceeded to put the PLASTIC pully in a VISE and crushed it to pieces. Should of just bought the damn puller and done it myself....but noooo i was in a rush, now i have to wait for the dealership to open. So much for wheelin this weekend

Thank you for the help though! much appreciated :-)

a vice is the WRONG way to pull it off. the auto parts store will let you borrow a pulley puller for free. read the instructions it comes with before you use it.

relax a little bit. I know you didn't put it in a vice, and i did read that they did it.

but here's the truth: somebody put YOUR pulley in a vice, and YOU didn't/weren't able to stop them. I thought it might need to be pointed out that a vice was bad idea. who knows, you might have gotten a new pulley and tried to put it on by putting the pump in a vice and hammering on the pulley.

the pulley is supposed to be changed out every time you change a pump (dodge trying to sell more unneeded parts), so they should have one in stock.
