Default Strange Noise

Need to see if anybody has had or heard of anything like this. My wife thinks me and my son are crazy because we hear it and she does not.

When you start up the truck it sounds like somebody hit a tuning fork and is holding it up to your ear. When you stop the truck (and it is usually in the garage) you really hear the noise when you have turned the key off and the engine is winding down. The best way to explain the noise is what I stated above. It sounds like a medium to high pitched hum like a tuning fork.

The dealer told me it was coming through my speakers, but I unplugged the fuse for the amps and I still hear it.

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. It is like a needle in my side right now. I try to ignore it, but it is still there.

does it get louder when rpms increase? I had a similar problem with my last truck, turned out to be a VAC line. It was constantly sucking air but more of a hum or whistle then a sucking sound because of the size of tube it drew from. Let me kno, if not it could be a bunch of things. Could be a bunged sensor in your cab, try unhooking your battery for 30-60 seconds to reset your system hook it all back and and see.

Just a couple suggestions without more details.

Cheers

It does not get louder when driving. If you are in a garage it is really noticable, but I hear it when I am idling at astop. Thanks for the ideas though. I will unhook the battery and see if that helps.

The noise is definitely coming from the engine and not from inside the cabin. Somewhere in the world a little gnome is laughing his *** off because this is driving me crazy. I agree with Smash, they hire somebody to **** with us and do little things that drive you crazy

It could be something as simple as a belt, or just leak in your intake. Could be nothing serious.
