When you go to pick up the truck ask them to see the parts that went bad. If I take my truck to the dealer or any shop for that matter and they come up with alot of these BS claims I ask to see the parts they want to or have replace. So I can see why they think the part is bad... I have caught a few places trying to jip the wife with her old car telling her parts were bad that were either working fine or were the parts they were charging were never on the car to begin with.

well the guy at service said i was leaking a lot of ps fluid so they change the entire hose i don't really have an issue with that as i have had problems during the cold months with leaking fluid..he also said they replaced the lower ball joint which was causing the creeking noise when i drove, they did an alignment, changed the front brakes and he said the sway bar was literally "worn out" and he said that its "not uncommon for an 02" which i personally didn't buy 100% but they had already done it so screw it

500 something in parts.....600 something for labor

did they show you the sway bar and where or how it was worn out? This is why i dont lije going to the dealerships, or most auto places. 1. I am not a vehicle wizard and normally dont know what the hell is wrong with my vehicle just buy listening or feel. 2. I usually dont have the tools necessary or the time to do it myself. I can go off of instructions for some stuff but I am usaully at the mercy of the shops. Guess I should have taken an auto class in H/S instead of other things.

Damn. Not to rain some more on this parade but, from now on, don't pay that dealer money, lol.

The sway bar itself was shot? I don't understand that at all. Maybe the end links were shot.....but those are like $25 a piece, and it takes 15 minutes to replace them. How the hell did the bar get worn out?

Dont you guys have a HUGE thread on how these rams leak PS fluid out of the pressure line, and that all you need to do is replace the clamp with a screw tight clamp? I thought tons of you guys were having the hose replaced again and again, and someone figured out it was the hose clip. Could that have been your issue?

Even though the balljoint was probablly really shot, i would NEVER put a factory replacement on, especially for that price. Those ball joints are junk, thats why you have to replace yours so soon. You could have done both bottom joints with greaseable moogs for that price.

Its ok though, at least now its all fixed.

But all this at 33k miles? Thats a joke.

nah he just said it was literally "worn out" which i really don't know because the previous owner used the truck for construction and put almost 14k on it which i then bought from a dealer once he got rid of it back in '07 so it could have possibly been damaged from the construction use?

took some after pics though...

replaced that pressure line, the line kept going and the arrow is just pointing toward the rest of the line they took out and put in

I would have demanded to see it before paying and leaving. well, at least you got your truck back and everythings taken care of. I have a weird sound coming from my front end and i cant locate it, but i dont want to hear the runaround from a shop or dealer on it, how maybe its this, maybe its that...etc.

Dude Id buy you a beer cause you just got raped. Why would you pay 400 for a brake job? Even if your not that mechanically inclined it would take a few hours to do, a few hours to do the ball joints and like everyone else has said the sway bar shouldnt need replacing... I had to replace mine but that because it got bent and twisted cause i came down hard on a rock several monthes ago...

Dude I feel for oyu and your pocket book... make a more informed desicion next time... call around to places other then the Stealership, crack open a phone book or break out the celly and 411 it up... and 1-800-free411 is free... naturally...

Better luck next time man...

Like i said i have no idea what condition the sway bar was in..it could have been bad i don't know, the previous owner used the truck for construction - good possibility for damaging something. If I knew how to change the brakes I would have jacked the truck up, taken the tires off and changed the brakes. If I knew how to fix the truck..believe me i would have. I don't even know of any small time shops around here and to tell you the truth, Pepboy's doesn't even know what an O2 sensor is so I would rather bring it to a dealer and get it done right than have it done incorrectly at pepboy's. And yes I will get quotes from other dealerships once the problem(s) is/are diagnosed and see what kinds of prices other places are offering.
