where could this leak be coming from??

Default where could this leak be coming from??

its from under my gas tank by the drive shaft and it smells like gear oil. its from a 2004 dodge ram. thanks!

Rear pinion seal maybe? Pull off your diff cover to confirm and throw in some good synthetic while your at it. Check the fluid level in your transfer case also.

Yep.................looks to me like the pinion seal gone.
You know, these 1500 rear ends are crap!

the rear pinion seal is on the end of driveshaft that hooks up to the differential right? what do i need to replace this just the seal? Also until i can get this fix will anything brake if i continue to use the truck? the diff. still has fluid init. thanks

pinion seal, get it fixed or you'll burn up your rear diff.

x2 do just take out the driveshaft and put the new seal in???
