So I'm here at college, and I walk out to my truck to run some errands with my girlfriend only to notice that my 2005 Ram 1500 has no tailgate.. Damn thief's!!

Does a 2007 Ram 1500 tailgate fit on my 2005 Ram 1500?? My truck looks stupid without a tailgate, and I don't really have the $$$ to spend it on a new tailgate

just make sure when you get your next tailgate, put a lock on it
07 will fit, in fact i like it better since i think they have the tailgate spoiler which looks nice

You can get any year 02-08 tailgate and put the spoiler on it - I did.

 

I can't believe they don't come with a lock. Hell, Ford has had locks since about 97.

It happens more than you think. I think Bully makes a locking latch assembly. Saw one at a Dodge dealer on Ebay.

 

It only takes 10 seconds to remove a tailgate blindfolded. Def an expensive item to replace and an item that needs to be locked. Fortunately for me, I have an alarm trigger if the tailgate opens.

 

People steal all the time out here by me. I havent been hit yet(knocks on wood)
