Default tailgate assist

A buddy of mine has a gmc truck with the tailgate assist. Man is that nice! You can open and close the tailgate with 2 fingers. This would be a nice feature when I take the wife & kids with me.
Do they make an aftermarket kit for the Dodge? Has anyone used one and are you happy with it? or is it just a gimmick and a waste of money?

torsion bar for the tailgate? Can you buy keys for that? I wonder what size tire you can fit with just the torsion bar cranked. lol

Seems like a pretty neat deal. Not expensive at all.

Yes. for $40 it may be worth a try.
Is it a good product or a waste of money?

this one is a little more $, and it uses different hardware with the 2 springs, 1 on each side, -vs- the other one that uses the torsion bar the length of the tailgate.

Which one would be better??

I have an EZ Down on my truck and its a great product. Worth the price IMO but, it does not help when closing the gate

Tailgate seems pretty light to me compared to some older trucks...maybe you guys need to start workin out The ez-down I can see as a nice safety feature though...if you have kids or whatnot.

Mine has both. Definitely handy if you have an armload of "stuff" to put back there.

EZ down looks nice, but they wont help with raising up the gate.

You might as well just buy a remote controlled actuator, hook it up, and you wont even have to touch the tailgate!

lol. I don't think I've ever seen a tailgate hooked up to an actuator. I've seen fiberglass tonneau covers though.

I think the tailgate is easy to lift primarily because i'm tall and the spoiler on the back helps out alot. i lifted a ford tailgate the other day and it almost slipped out from under me and seemed a little heavier. I have no problems lowering the tailgate down so it's no good to me, however.....
Here's the nicer EZDown kit http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/DODGE...spagenameZWDVW
