Default Gear oil question

I've been searching threds for the correct gear oil and additive amount for my truck.If this is and old question I'm sorry for taking up space.I have an '03 2WD 1500 W/3.55 LSD gear.I really want to change the oil this weekend.Another question,synthetic or not?Could someone point me in the right direction.

+1 ^^^ also there are some synthetics that don't require the LS additive such as Royal Purple.

75w-140. If you can afford it, get a PML (or similar) cover to increase the amount of oil, especially if you tow. ~2.2 qts of Mobil 1 and four ounces of additive if you keep the stock cover.

Yep. 75-140 of Mobile 1 here is about $19 a quart.

I'm using the same weight, but AMSOIL. Also, I don't need friction stuff with the LockRite...

I don't do any towing,just a daily driver.

Kevin, I don't tow much either, but the LockRite was a God-send this winter. It kept me from getting stuck 3 times, maybe more. I just threw 300# of sandbags in the bed and dropped the hammer as needed...
