best way to go about tinting/lights?
#21
here are mine, see how to below...
wet sand w/ 320, sand till you see no gloss on lense, use laquer thinner to remove oil and grease, tape off reverse light and cargo light, re wipe w/ laquer thinner, spray on light coat of vht nightshades, once it begins to tack slightly, (5 mins time est..) spray another coat, continue till you reach desired tint, before totally dry, remove tape then clear w/ duplicolor auto clear, once dry, reinstall your lights and step back, while still awestricken, say "daaaaayum, that looks sick yo!'" ( or whatever ingenious phrase you may prefer.) lol
I used two coats I think, and one pretty solid coat of clear. It all depends on the amount of tint you want. The light shines out great, you barely even know they are tinted when lights come on. Summit racing sells it for 12 bucks a can and I barely even put a dent in the first can. Maybe 1/4 of a can.

hmmm that looks really really good paul. nice work. I'm very seriously considering going this route. How smooth does the VHT come out? What are the chances of messing it up and having to replace the tails? I've successfully used rattle can paint on a vehicle before and it turned out real nice. I'm assuming this is pretty similar?

Wasnt hard at all to tint the tails and 3rd brake light... I used a 35% vinyl... Its a newer brand than most.. its alot more pliable than the older brand I used... It stretchs to help pull out the bubbles(fingers) in the curved sections...
with the park lights on you can still clearly see the lights
