When I got my truck last year I bought the lifetime bumper to bumper and it came with the lifetime powertrain warranty. I called my local dealership earlier and asked if Chrysler filing for ch.11 was going to effect them. He told me that none of what was going on in the company will effect my warranties and that I will always have them unless I somehow void them. I sure hope he knew what he was talking about.
Many of you have it wrong the goverment has been saying they will back your warranties for awhile now. Those that say if you buy today are the only ones that it will be protected and if you bought last week your SOL are wrong! The government will back all warranties offered from the manufacturer so as to encourage auto purchases from these failing companies. So you will have your warranty and it is backed by the full faith of the US government. So frog the warranties are not dead and everyone can lay some fear to rest. This is actually a good thing for chrysler because it allows them to restructure and start trimmer and get a better game plan going and the fiat partnership is a good deal and will also help chrysler reach more overseas markets with there vehciles
Also since Fiat is a european company, and diesels are big over there, maybe they'll go through with the plan to offer a V8 diesel 1500 in a few years?
A v8 diesel is unlikely, there has been talk of a 3.0L V-6 Fiat diesel that could be built in the US. Also, the most likely first Fiat auto. would be the Fiat 500.
