Default E-Fan

I am looking at an E-Fan down the road and it says that it has a 160-240 degree adjustable thermostat, but that is down the road a few months. My question is... Is it worth it to buy a 180 degree thermostat for my truck for now and will the E-fan effect it once I purchase it?

The 180 T-stat should allow your truck to run cooler, and will let the coolant start flowing earlier so the e-fan will most likely come on sooner if set around the t-stat's temp. I really don't see any need to replace the t-stat and just did an e-fan on my truck for the mpg and performance gains.

I did a little more reading on the t-stat and it seems like a good cheap mod, but I would like to find some dyno numbers to show the gains that one can get.

The whole thing with the T-Stat is that your engine is running cooler and more efficient. That translates to a couple more ponies, a little better mileage (like tenths better), but in my opinion the most important thing is a longer lasting engine. For $40 I might as well get the thermostat and once I get the E-Fan I will just set the temp at 180 as well.

Yea I think considering how cheap it is and how easy people say they are to swap it is a good move, you may have just convinced me to do it. I'm gonna look for some dyno sheets.

If you find any sheets post them. It probably wont be much, but a cooler and more efficient engine is the important thing for me. Especially in the chicagoland area.

they are each good, but they're both better with each other from what I understand. I have both.

Hey AF... Just out of curosity what MPG's do you get out of that tank? I am looking at putting 35'' Dick Cepek FCII's on mine, but with a 4'' lift instead. And my intake and exhuast system is going to be the same + I even have the same tuner. Currently I just have the SC 3815 and FM50 DOR exhuast with a QCSB 4x4 05 ram 4.7 W/285x70x17 AT's on it and I am getting a solid 14. I am just wondering what to expect. lol

the thermostat they are talking about for the fan is what tells the fan at what temperature to turn on and off at. It is different than your radiator thermostat. It won't matter if you get it now or not. But $40 is crazy high for a 180* thermostat. You can pick one up at Advanced Auto for about $11, and even the JET which is stainless steel and has a lifetime warranty can be found for around $30...

I just got the JET T-STAT from MOE's for 36.99. Moe's beat everywhere else I looked once you added shipping.
