Transmission trouble?
I own a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500, it has a 5.9 V8 left over from the old rams, right before they put the Hemi's. I know the 2nd generation rams are known for having bad transmissions, does anyone know if they put these were put into the 5.9's?
My truck keeps slipping or something when I'm driving. it jerks a lot, kind of a fast braking movement, but that's not the case. the fan seems to be fine. This only happens sometimes, yesterday it was jerking all day... today it ran fine (of course when I had it looked at.)
Any ideas? the truck only has 66,000 miles on it.

I've had the fluid checked, never flushed it. I haven't had the filter changed, I've only owned the truck since October, at 58,000 miles. I'm afraid if it is the 2nd gen transmission, I've heard a lot of bad. If I have to replace the trans I have to sell it... already having financial struggles. Not a fun week.
I would take it in to another shop and keep bringing it there until it acts up. A lot of people will tell you to do a lot of different things, bottom line is if you have the tranny issue, and most likely you do, this will be wasted money. Usually a good trans shop will include the cost of diagnosing into the repair cost so it won't be an extra fee. Basically the diagnostic is free. Be sure to get everything and I mean everything in writing and maintain a copy for youself. Also check around and ask for references for the shop and ask what kind of warranties they have. If they won't warranty it go away. I rebuild my trans at 85K. I also only paid $5500 for the truck so I didn't mind. Also remember this if you sell it and you do not tell the new buyer that is just not right, if you do tell them you will get a lot less for the truck, but if you call the bank and tell them what is up they will probably lend you the extra money needed to rebuild the trans (it is in there best interest to keep you paying on the truck) and then you really come out ahead because now one of the major components of your truck is warrantied and you do not have to worry about it anymore. If you sell you will also have to buy and who knows what your going to get, at least now you know what you have. Goodluck it sounds like you got the famous trans problem.
I'll take it in if it keeps acting up, it has driven for for the last 2/3 days now. really strange. I'll keep you guys posted... fingers crossed it's not the trans.

Yeah, keep us posted I am curious to see what happens. By the way that is a nice looking truck. I wish I had the Chrome grill and bumper.
I like your truck with the colored bumper and grill. What color is your truck?
