What Brakes pads/rotors have you guys used?
Hey everyone. I was just wondering what type of rotors and pads you switched to once your OEM ones wore out. I have almost 50k on my 05 qc 4x4 and I need new brakes because one of the rotors is slightly warped. As soon as I get into heavy braking conditions, where I really heat them up, the whole front of the truck starts bouncing. I have to change them before bass fishing season starts up and I have to tow a 20ft boat behind it. I was looking at the ultra premium rotors from NAPA along with the servere service brake pads. It looks like I should be able to do it for $300-400 to replace all four brakes, doing it myself. I looked into possibly going with the EBC Hi-performance ones with using the greenstuff 7000 pads, but it's hard to bring myself to spending $350 on just my front brakes. I use they pretty heavy, but not as heavy as many of you out there. Thanks for the imput.
EBC is the way to go. It is hard getting over the sticker shock but my thinking is that I have spent allot more money than that on things that just make my truck look good then I should spend just as much on the better brakes when it comes to the safety of me and my family. These brakes work very well for towing and for playing on the rocks...
Im still on stock rotors but using Autozones C-Max ceramic pads on the front and rear. They are ultra quiet and much less dust than the metallics. I'll probably by slotted rotors the next time I change pads out.
I just ordered a set of Power Slots and Hawk pads for my '07... at just over 50k my front rotors are warped prety good. I'll let you know how they work out but I've found nothing but good press on them wherever I look.
i used to have slotted rotors, then they started gettin minor hairline cracks in them. i asked the guy at the shop why they did that and he said too much stop and go driving. apparently slotted are great for higher performance applications, but not good for daily driving. can anyone prove this wrong? seems like everywhere i look people push the drilled/slotted rotors because they cool better...which im sure they do. i guess i just never get the rotors hot enough to need the extra cooling. i've had much better success with the oem solid rotors

What stores did you guys buy the power slot rotors and hawk pads from? And I don't do a great deal of stop and go driving. I am 60 miles west of chicago so it's not too bad out here. I just make quite a few short trips. lol I think the slotted rotors will be the way to go for the towing and safety purposes. The extra-heavy duty ones are basically the same rotors as the EBC's, they are just generic. They will be plenty enough for what I need them to do.
I ordered mine on-line from AutoAnything.com. They have free shipping on everything, which a lot of times makes their proces better than any competitor.
