Default Air Bags or Helper Springs for 1500

First off I know the best thing would get a 2500 or 3500 but that doesn't fit in the budget right now.

By the time I load the bed with all the Camping Gear then hook up the trailer I am getting quite a bit of rear sag. And with the leveling kit on the front it makes it look a lot worse.

So the question is Helper Springs or Air Bags?

Let me know what you think.

I would go with the bags. I had the helpers on my last Ram and it did help the load carrying capacity of the truck. Problem was when the truck was empty, the rear end bounced all over the placed when I hit even the smallest bump.

do you have an on board compressor with the airbags or do they make kind that you just fill up with a regular compressor in the garage?

I would go bags, and if you can foot the bill for onboard air, do it. I have helper springs, and for what I paid for them, they are decent, but they are no comparison to the bags.

I just installed the AirLift kit on my RAM for the exact same reason. I just went with the bags and not the onboard air setup. Mounted the "fill-points" at the flat portion right on the hitch.

Here's what i have. Took 1 hour to install. No drilling like other kits. Mounts under frame and on top of axle. Cannot use this kit with a lift though. It uses 3/8" thick zinc coated construction with Goodyear bags. It does lift the back about 1.5" when pumped full and empty, but these are 5k rated bags. You shouldn't ever need to fill them above 40#'s of air. They ride very nice. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-R...spagenameZWDVW
