get an AeroTurbine 3030. i got the muffler for under $100, then paid a guy $90 to install it, and put in a custom Y pipe. sounds amazing, got it all done for under $200, and got rid of the restrictive stock Y.

^^i agree with that. you would be better served replacing the y pipe, keeping your 3" pipe and just replacing the muffler in line. would net you more power, just wouldn't look as cool.

I know a lot of guys like the magnaflow because of the stainless steel case, but jeez, I was really disappointed with the way the magnaflow sounded on my 360. Sounded like somebody with their *** cheeks spread apart farting. The flowmaster is like the butt cheeks closed, so it ricochets off the cheeks and gives you that great chambered sound lol. I can't stand how straight through mufflers lack variation tone, they just give you that consistent deep tone regardless of how much throttle you have into it. The flowmaster has a whole bunch of tones depending upon the amount of throttle being given. But hey, to each his own for sure.

As for the price, that sounds good to me. I'm having my exhaust system put into tomorrow morning. He quoted me $275-$300 to install new piping from the y-pipe back. He's also going to install the magnaflow y-pipe I bought. I'm running a 3"inlet/2.5" dual outlet Flowmaster Super 44 muffler with 4"x18" exhaust tips, with one tip going behind each rear tire. So sounds like you have an equally solid deal.

^^ You're gonna have a sound clip once it's finally done right? I enjoyed your other clips on youtube.

Thanks Red!

Yes, I will get on the videos ASAP. I can't wait to hear some rumble. I've been going crazy driving around town for the past month with no exhaust. I'm the biggest goober, I think a vehicle is "uncool" without exhaust. It's pathetic I know, but I think exhaust heightens the cool factor or a truck substantially.

install going to be postponed a week , got called into work this morning, damn! ... i was looking at the magnaflow y pipe and also crawled under the truck to look at the factory y pipe. it is obvious the bottle neck it creates, however my concern with replacing it is the o2 sensor is in the final bend and it looks like the magnaflow would mess with the location? any input from those who have the mag y pipe, what did you do/ have done?

$300 isn't too bad since you're getting a SI/DO muffler. If you settle for a SI/SO and keep the stock stainless 3" pipes you would save a few hundred and get better flow depending on the muffler.

As far as mufflers go i'd shop by type and not necessarily brand...what are you looking for exactly? If you want a modified glasspackish muffler with unrestricted flow get a straight-through muffler like magnaflow/hooker max-flow. If you want a chambered muffler that flows close to stock but sounds great get a flowmaster.

Is it true the muffler has to actually "break in" before it starts sounding the "way it's supposed to"?

I noticed my magnaflow sounds a little different now that I've been driving it for a few days. It sounds a little deeper.

Just had my exhaust system put in today, totaling $239. He installed the magnaflow y-pipe as well. He chopped off the y-pipe and left about a foot of the stock pipe from each of the catalytic converters and just started his new piping from there. Once he went into the new y-pipe, he ran a 3" pipe into the 3"in/2.5" dual out muffler, then out behind each rear tire with exhaust tips. The y-pipe defiantly shouldn't be a problem to install, and won't effect the o2 sensors.
