i wouldn't ever tow a regular travel trailer without an anti sway hitch at least... 1 semi tractor trailer goes by on the highway without it and you'll know why... we had a 4500 kg trailer - and we used the reese wd / anti sway hitch - it was great.

but as for weight - we are today installing airlift and wireless compressor kit for our 3500... but we now have a fifth wheel - 37ft... and so the weight is on the bed... it tows fine without the airbags.. but we want to get the 'nose' level again - our research showed that it would give us a better ride even when the truck is not towing... at least for those in the rear seats. and we just change the air levels to tow level when we are towing. we were also told it would reduce wear and tear on our leaf springs.

Hitch. Your class IV receiver is rated for 10,000lbs with one. without, only 5000lbs.
I use one and it makes a world of difference. The air bags will help with the squatting of the truck, but do nothing to keep the tongue weight in check and take stress off of the receiver.
I got mine from Summit racing
I have this one http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

If you know anyone who has a WDH, you might want to borrow it. They simply bolt right on. I'd lend you mine if you were closer. Also, you should obviously have a brake controller with that kind of weight behind you.

Anyone w/ a Ram 2500 here ever consider installing a Reese Titan Hitch assembly??

These babies are rated to pull 18000# w/ 2000# tongue weight - no mention of Weight Distribution...

Quote: no 9000 is a high guess of what the trailer fully loaded will weigh. i think im gonna get the WDH with sway bar
good choice.

but you know what, you might be better off just renting a box truck to make the drive...unless you really need to take the trailer.

If I got a box truck, I'd have to tow the Ram behind it, and this truck is too big to fit on a trailer. Its not a big deal... the WDH's are only about $400 new and i'll just sell it with the trailer when I get to my destination. Thank you all for your great advice. I'm gonna get the WDH now and later down the road get the airbags (no relation to this move, but a nice mod in general).
