Default More power

We just got an '03 Ram regular cab 5-speed with the v6, and in all honesty its a dog! Really nice truck but very slow. What have you all done that increases the horse power of this little truck? Coming from a 5.7l v8 Chevy doesn't help the situation any! I used the search but I really didn't find much info for the v6. I'm mainly a v8 mustang guy and I know what works well in them, but I'm unsure of this v6. Thanks

Well there a lot of things you can do, but it will still be slow when all is said and done. I've done an intake, jet chip, and an electric fan conversion and it has all helped out the top end. My other plans include exhaust, ported throttle body from thefastman.com, maybe an underdrive pulley, and shorty headers. Other than those all you can do is drop weight, throw a blower on it, or trade it for another truck. Good luck and welcome.

Thanks for the welcome. I hope those mods you have helped at least a little. I guess we will start with a CAI like always and go from there. The fan seems like a good option as well, since it will free up some parasitic loss. I'm guessing this truck puts somewhere around 180hp to the wheels and something like 205 torque to the wheels. It really would be nice to get somewhere around 240 tq to the wheels. That would help when I'm pulling a trailer.

It suits its purpose. Plus it handles good and is maneuverable. I'll post back when I start changing things. Hopefully they will help out a little.

to solve the power issue dodge should have inserted the 4.0 v6 260hp and 260 lb ft of torque!!! now thats a real truck v6. i remember when the 3.9 put out a whopping 150hp, most 4cyl put out more then that, american iron.... dont understand it.
