Default protect your license plate!

ok so my wife was out doing some shopping yesterday and this morning i go out to the garage to wash her car for her and i notice the license plate had been ripped in half! literally!! the right half of the plate that holds the year tag was completely ripped off (along with 2 of the plate numbers). i always take a razor blade to the tags after sticking them on so if anyone tries to peel them off they peel into small pieces making them unuseable. but this is the first time ive ever seen this! looks like whoever did it plans to just cut the plate where the tag is and glue it to their own. so i went down to autozone a few minutes ago and got a simple flat plate protector cover (supposedly unbreakable) and a set of four locking replacement screws so the plate & tags cant be touched or taken off. everything together cost me less than $15. in the current economy it seems people are getting more desperate to cover their expenses and less considerate of anyone else. so if you havent already, i'd suggest you go get some simple, cheap protection for your plates. $15 could save you some headaches later, and if you're in cali this is cheaper than a replacing a plate and tag sticker anyhow.

It's just going to get worse too... registration fees are doubling here in CA on the 19th.

Since when does TX put tags on the windshield instead of the front/rear bumper?

Nope ours are on the license plate as well. I have seen a few vehicles driving around town here where their plates have literally been cut in half and glued to a new plate. One was even starting to come apart where they had seamed it together. I have a plate cover on mine, however here in az they are trying to make them illegal because of the photo radar cameras on the freeways. They already made the covers that cover up the state on the top of the plate illegal to have.

Oh yea, I cant wait for the double registration fee either. I will be paying like $500 this year, in August actually. That kinda pisses me off, but oh well, what do you do?

I think the first mod I ever did on my truck was take the front license plate off. I hate that thing. Especially with these traffic lights taking pictures of you now, screw that.

yea any type of cover is technically illegal here in cali too, but since i got the plain clear cover (not the one that makes your plate invisible to cameras) its barely even noticeable that the cover is there. i live in an area of socal where the police are STRICT STRICT STRICT! they'll pull you over for the stupidest crap, even if they think there's a slight tint on your front windows (which is illegal in cali too). but so far i havent gotten any grief about my cover, and i've been tailed quite a few times already. figure if they pull me over for it i'll tell them why its there and what happened. its either drive with a cover, or drive with half a plate. those are my options. i think i chose the lesser of two wrongs

to be honest, ive just about had it with california and their ***** fees myself. i miss arizona, but cant say that i miss the phoenix heat at all. but where i live i'll get pulled over every 10 blocks for not having a front plate cant say its all bad though, the cops are generally good people and they do a great job of keeping my city and neighborhood quiet and peaceful. its the stupid damn cali laws and exaggerated fees i hate

People will steal just about anything, it is really sad that nothing is safe anymore.
