Cleaning
Hey I was just wondering what you guys do to clean out the engine bay? I just installed the XDI and it is the only thing that is clean in there. Also what do you guys use to get all the brake dust off of the rims and lug nuts? I want to keep them looking as new as possible.
I use 50/50 split of simple green and water for the engine...I don't use any detailer because dirt seems to stick to it. I cover the pcm, alternator, fuse box and throttle body with plastic grocery bags. For the rims I use Mothers all-wheel cleaner spray and a pressure washer.
How well do they work? Would you recommend them? And for the engine are you using the pressure washer very carefully or just the hose? I don't want to mess up any electronics.
I just use the hose for the engine. Simple green works good on everything and is a strong degreaser...it can be a little acidic if you let it sit so make sure you rinse off the aluminum heads really good. And if you don't like what it does for your engine it's a good household cleaner too so it's not money wasted. The wheel cleaner works good on my factory 17's but they're not chrome like yours...should still work though.
i bought some engine degreaser some autozone, put plastic bags over electrical stuff, sprayed engine, let sit for a lil, scrub the places with lots of dirt/grease build up then hose off. Finally turn truck on to help dry everything off.

I use simple green in a 50/50 mix as well. For me the biggest thing to help is consistantly doing it. That means about every 2-3 times of a regular wash and not allowing it to build up. If you want it really shiny, then while it is still wet with water give it a good shot of armor all and let dry. Like mentioned this tends to collect dust faster.
