Default Cost to Install 4.56

Does anyone know the Book suggested hours to install 4.56 gears in front and rear on a 06 mega cab? I am thinking it will be my first mod to my truck... Budgeting has already started.

4 wheel parts quoted me $1400 for front and rear installed. not sure about time of labor but i do know that it has to be done right ( shiming) or you will tear everything you just did up. even cost yourself more in the end by having to replace the whole rear end housing an all.

OOPS it is 4wd... Also looking at shop hours by book I have a guy with a good hourly rate that will not go over book and if done in less time he will not charge the difference.

I know about setting shims etc. I would not attempt myself, but have connections to those who do this for a living.

So re-gearing a truck has to be front and rear at the same time? what about transfer case, does it need any modification?

yes you have to do front and rear at the same time if you are a 4x4. 2wd is just the rear. no modification is needed it fits fine in the transfer case

in town here, its 7-800 for each axle, parts and labor included. so about 1600 for front and rear, but again that includes parts. I dont know what the shop labor is on it.

my complete job was 1600.00 for my dakota 4x4, that included gears, bearing kits, axle seals, r and r the frt axle. because of the independant frt suspension, oil, labor and tax. i went from a 3.55 to a 4.10, best mod done so far, besides my 125 shot of nitrous
