RE: Hemi Tick
My previous 04 Hemi and my current 05 Hemi both tick, and tick, and tick...... I think the sound tells people, especially the oldtimers that had the old Hemi cars, that "Yes, It in fact does have a Hemi". I love the looks and knowing what the driver of the Chevy or Ford sitting beside you at light is thinking. They are thinking "Do I want to tear off at the light" but knowing its a Hemi and I will burn them the f*ck up.

RE: Hemi Tick
I think the tick is there to stay and to me it's definetly coming from the lifters, cam or valves, injectors will make a tick but it is a whole diff. sound that you will onli hear on very quiet engines like passenger cars with the hood open and its more like a small magnetic coil tick and the lifter tic is more like a diesel engine sound, mine developed the tic after the first oil change, and after swtiching over to synt. oil it is a bit more quiet but still tics, it doesent bother me at all in fact I like it.

RE: Hemi Tick
my hemi ticked from almost day one.. i remember when i got it a couple people pointed it out to me but i thought nothing of it because it always ran fine... thats what i was running 5w, switched to 10w and the tick is still there, just not as loud..
the sound of my whole motor changed around 15k and still sounds the same at 32k today...

RE: Hemi Tick
That airey tick is the sound of 345 horses, 375 torque, and 15 or so mpg. Find me an engine making that kind of power and getting that kind of mileage. I think it is a mix of the valves and the injectors. Every Ram, Magnum, 300C with the Hemi makes that sound. I think the new MDS engines are a little worse, but not much. Mine made that sound from day 1, but got louder at about 4,000 miles. It now has 68,000 and sounds the same. Give me 2 years, and I'll let you know how she sounds at 160,000.
